Last Night in Willow Park

We had another enjoyable time at the concert last night, and sat next to Uncle George and June. The photos above of the lady in the blue dress are "ballerina girl." We love watching her - she can dance like crazy, and never sits out a dance. The elderly couple are there every week - I actually saw him get mad at her one week because she had trouble following him. He doesn't know how to dance - and certainly can't lead. I'm sure anyone would have trouble following him. And I tried to get a good shot of the lady in the red hat because her hat was funny but could never get a good shot of her from the front. The music was great - the first time I remember a band not taking a break, and played past the 9:00 quitting time. They seemed to be really enjoying playing. Now I'm going to publish this post and see where the photos actually land. I don't have the hang of how they're going to look on the page yet - it's guess work. Then I'm off for my walk. Can we believe it's almost July???

Thursday Storm Damage

A pretty strong storm came through here this morning, and this tree blew over - it's in the middle of the block on our side of the street. It fell between two houses, doing damage to both. One of the houses is the one I wrote about where I visited when yard saling one Sat. morning. They had a sign posted - "no trespassing on porch steps." Today when taking this picture, I noticed that next to their front door they have a painted sign that reads "go away." Now most people would have a "welcome" sign. But not these people. No, sir. Theirs says "go away." Don't they sound lovely? Anyway, the winds were pretty strong, and I really haven't been around the neighborhood to see if there were any other trees or branches down near-by or not.
No damage here, thankfully. Hope everyone else can say the same.

Second try was a charm- almost

Well, it would have been a charm if they'd won. What I mean is, second time was a charm because they actually played. Bobby & I went to Kevin's Tuesday night game and we were the only ones there. It was rained out. Apparently it was raining everywhere in the city except in our neighboorhood. So we went to the Wednesday night game. The picture above was taken when a player on Kevin's team was walked to first base, and that's Kevin getting to take second base. I think they'd have won if the umpire hadn't blown a call when Kevin tagged a guy out at third, but the ump called the guy safe. And I was watching closely. You know how I am with my sports. But seriously, I did see that guy get tagged. Seriously.

Saturday Night Sleepover

This past Saturday night Erin, Jill & I had a girls' sleepover. Bobby had a poker game that night and an early morning golf game, so it was girls only. We slept in the family room in the basement, had pancakes, eggs and mandarin oranges for breakfast, painted, did crafts, and just whatever. Even when Erin was three years old like Jill is now, when she would do these little stitching crafts it had to be perfect...any knots or skipped holes she wanted corrected. Jill on the other hand accepted no help. Occasionally a hole was skipped or an error otherwise made and when she reached the end there would not be enough shoe lace. With two holes left she'd take another lace for those two holes, leaving lots of shoe lace dangling at the end. She was, however, extremely pleased with the result. They show the same difference in personality when they play candyland. Erin lays her cards she draws from the stack neatly in a design, making a circle, continually straightening them. Jill tosses them everywhere. Something tells me Erin won't be opening bags upside down and boxes at the wrong end like her Mimi, but Jill shows promise....

I gave them the yard sale tags not used at the sale -- you know..the little round stickers to mark prices on...about eights pages of them...and they had a yard sale in our basement. There wasn't a thing in our basement without a sticker on it. Bobby & I are still finding an occational stickered item. But it sure kept them busy. They sold everything from a half eaten roll of rolaids to door knobs and the walls, etc. etc. etc.

We had fun, fun, fun. I love those girls.

Saturday's Yard Sale

We had a successful yard sale Saturday, having rid our basement and closets of lots and lots of "junk." Of course, one man's junk is another man's treasure. Kevin & Brian kindly showed up at 6:30 a.m. to help haul things from basement to front yard, saving us much time and energy in getting things set up, which was truly appreciated. And Mark piled his van full afterwards and took things to Good Will, also much appreciated.
The photos above were taken Saturday. The moon boots came from Rebecca & Susan, our neighbors - to sell at the sale. Mark had to try them out. While trying them out - Erin tried out Mark's shoes. And Jill tried on one of Brian's golf club head covers - actually not one being sold at the yard sale. And if you enlarge the photo of Jill on Mark's lap, you'll notice Jill making her usual face when realizing her picture is being taken. Good ol' Grandpa gave Erin & Jill a dollar to spend at the yard sale on little toys from Grandma Tablers house and they went home with a bag full of plastic toys. They had fun shopping, and Mark and Kim were ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED!

Willow Park Concert

We had a good time at the concert last night listening to King Sonic and watching a few people helping to keep Louisville Wierd, plus watching some really good dancers. You can decide from the photos above which is which. The photo of the shoes are neat dancing shoes that some of the dancers wear. It's amazing how good some of them dance, even on this concrete dance floor. And the woman that I believe fancies herself to be a Marilyn Monroe look-alike actually had on capries that fit and a top that almost fit, so maybe she'll be on the blog next week - we'll see.
One thing that's fun to watch about the many good dancers that turn out is how they dance with everyone - no matter what the age or race - older men with young women, young men asking even 60 and 70 year old women to dance, and women asking men to dance. It doesn't matter. They all have such a great time.

Just Checking In

I'm almost done with my next quilt block - haven't really worked too much on it lately. I did, however, paint a little doll bunkbed for Erin & Jill to play with - one that I purchased at a yardsale last summer for 50 cents. I already had the yellow paint and fabric and stuffing for the mattresses, & it turned out really cute. And it's amazing how much I've managed to pull out of closets and drawers upstairs for our yardsale this upcoming weekend, and I have it all priced. Now we have to start pricing all the junk piled in the basement and getting it somewhat organized.

The weather's great - actually hot enough for me to walk every day. I love it. Speaking of hot - tomorrow is Grandparents' day at the waterpark at 4:00 p.m. So we'll be swimming with Erin & Jill. We'll see you at Wednesday's game, Kevin. Now you know which night you're sure to win.

Big Bad Bob had a good idea. Really - he did. We go to the concert at Willow park on Sunday nights, and I spend a lot of time critiqueing how people are dressed - you know, because I'm so perfect myself. (If anyone's reading this who doesn't know me, I'm making fun of myself) Like there's this woman who I believe in her mind is a Marilyn Monroe look-alike, and she wears a really tight tank top and short shorts. And she's got these stomach rolls you wouldn't believe. She's a sight. And last night there was a woman around 35 or so with long pig-tails wearing this red checked puffy sleeved dress with a real flouncy three tiered skirt, and if that wasn't bad enough, she was also wearing an apron. But they're both good dancers. And I could go on and on and on. We here's BBB's idea - take the camera!!! So from now on on Monday's I'm going to post some dancers - without heads or faces, of course. Some of these people are truly helping to keep Louisville wierd.

To understand this photo, you'll first have to read Big Bad Bob's blog about the squirrels and the Dragon ---I just couldn't resist. Just Maybe it's Been Me stealing those peanuts!!!
