A Few Things To Write About

Once again when I was out for my walk yesterday, I passed Arts & Crafts Dental: with the name of two dentists on the sign, and I always wonder just what is meant by "arts and crafts" dental. It's such an odd name, don't you think?

I went to have my hair hi- lighted the other day, and after arriving at the appointment and discussing this with the salon person, decided to just have my hair cut. Knowing that left quite a bit of time on her schedule, I said yes to having her blow my hair dry afterwards. Usually I leave with it wet and go home and wash and dry it myself. I can't figure out how the salons manage to get hair so bouffant looking, using nothing but a dryer and a brush. I couldn't get to the car fast enough to run a comb and my fingers through my hair to flatten it out and look more like myself. What I should have done, though, is left my hair alone and gone to that restaurant on Bardstown Road that advertises "Burritos As Big As Your Head." I could have gotten One burrito and fed the entire family. But this was my first time in this salon, and she did trim my hair like I asked her to, and that's definitely good news.

I've got a book on tape, and my mind wanders when I try to listen to it, even when I just sit and listen, not doing anything else. I guess so far the meditation hasn't calmed and trained my mind so much. I need more practice.

Erin's and Jill's soccer games were fun, fun, fun on Saturday. No game this week, of course, because we'll all be watching Chocolate Candy win the Kentucky Derby. When I told Brother Ben last night that all of the Tablers would be attending a derby party this year in Indiana, you can imagine his reaction. Indiana!!!!?????!!! He claims he and Donna are thinking about moving to Tennessee in a few years.

We ate at Mimi's on Hurstbourne Parkway Saturday evening. It wasn't one of my favorite restaurants, but was good and we had a lot of fun. I think it's about time Bobby & I got back into our dance lessons. I believe we've forgotten what little we knew. It's been ages since we've practiced. We'll probably have to take beginner lessons again, and then the intermediate again. It was always so much fun.

When Erin and Jill were here Sunday, Erin wanted to go upstair and lie down. (Translation: She wanted to go upstairs and jump on the bed) And they love playing "baby" in the pack & play. I thought as soon as Jill outgrew sleeping in it I'd pack it away. Now I'm waiting for them to outgrow playing "baby" in it. One of them plays the baby and the other is the big sister. They pass hours and hours pretending one thing or another. You never know what it's going to be next.
Tonight is the steamboat race. Anyone going? I didn't think so. Anyone going to watch on tv? I didn't think so. Tomorrow is the parade. Anyone going? I didn't think so. Anyone going to watch on tv? I didn't think so. Well, happy Derby week. Hope everyone has some winners.

Earthquake anniversary

Tomorrow, April 18 is the one year anniversary of the earthquake. At approximately 5:30 a.m. many of us woke up to rattling windows, rumbling, etc. one year ago. Now, if I was daddy, I'd tell you what the temperature was and if it was raining or not. However, the reason I know the earthquake anniversary is I've got it marked on my calendar. And the funny thing is, I thought we were having a repeat this morning around 4:30. I kept hearing a rumbling, which went on and on and on. It was keeping me awake for the longest time. I finally got up and looked and could see continuous planes in the sky. I think UPS was extremely busy taking off this morning. I kept thinking how many planes could they have? 20? 30? (just kidding) Anyway, my morning started early today, so we're going out for breakfast. Pretty good!

Happy earthquake anniversary. And tomorrow morning at 10:00 and 11:00 is Erin and Jill's first soccer games. Should be a lot of fun - and interesting to watch. I say Jill will be an aggressive little soccer player once she learns what to do - Bobby doesn't think so. We'll see.

This and That Again

We injoyed Easter yesterday, having everyone over for dinner. Brian got to drop by after he got off work. And we really, really missed Beth but hope she enjoyed being with her family in Bardstown.

Yipppeee for the navy and the Obama administration for freeing the captainand killing those pirates. I hope they don't stop here, however; They need to make these ships safe from future pirating. And I hope they act quickly.

I finished another quilt block, but I think I'll wait until I complete another one and post two at a time. I know the suspense is killing everybody.

Tomorrow, April 14 is Brian and Beth's 2nd wedding anniversary. I hope their schedules are going to allow them to celebrate sometime this week.

My derby pick, Old Fashioned, injured his knee and can't run anymore. And he was my first "Sure Thing." Back to the drawing board.
