Sometimes It's The Little Things

Sometimes it's the little things in life that drive a person crazy. If you've been reading Bobby's latest blog entries, you know he went off and joined the Navy at an early age - handled it well. Shipped off to Vietnam - handled it well. He supported a family of 5 - the big things never threw him. He lost his job at Coca Cola, which never should have happened - he handled it with class. He worked long, hard hours at Toyota - handled it well. However, picking out shampoo seems to drive him nuts. How many times have I heard: " I don't want to add curl or straighten my hair, or restore moisture or add any kind of balance to my hair, or rejuvenate the color; I just want to get my hair clean. Why can't they just make regular shampoo?"

Christmas Holidays

A few photos from the holidays, including the sleepover when Erin and Jill were putting on a show in the basement family room, dinner at KT's, Christmas Day and Mark's and Kim's, and opening gifts the day after Christmas and our house.

Six-legged Reindeer

.This deer has "six" legs!!! I've blogged about one breakfast conversation we had last Sunday morning. Well, when our conversation was about Grandpa Claus working in his workshop, Dub and Linda were apparently impressed. When we received our Christmas card from them, turns out they added a little art work of their own to the card. We loved it.

Breakfast Conversation

This past Sunday morning when we went to breakfast with three other couples at Wild Eggs, the conversation turned to BB guns. One of the couples there was Bill and Kathy R, and Bill told us that Kathy had a BB gun. Now, if Bill had told us that he was the one with the gun, no one would have expressed surprise, but since it was Kathy's gun, I immediately asked her what she did with her BB gun. You can imagine the reaction when she told us she shoots squirrels. Bobby immediately shook her hand, and presto, Bobby has a new best friend.

Silly Erin

Last night we met Mark & Kim, Erin & Jill, at the Summit for their Christmas at Westport Village, where they lit the tree, Santa came, etc. Bobby or I will probably post a few more pictures about our evening, but this one is regarding a short conversation Kim and Erin had while we were having dinner.

It was a very cold night and we were going to be outside a lot, but Erin chose to wear anklet socks under her jeans instead of knee socks, which would have kept her legs warmer. When sitting in the restaurant, you could see Erin's bare legs at the bottom, and Kim told Erin, "Erin, just looking at your legs makes me feel cold." Without missing a beat, and with a smile on her face, Erin said, "Then don't look."

More Christmas Decorations

I like my prelit Christmas treee. It was so easy. At first I wasn't sure, but after I stuck my red berries in it I was happy. The red NOEL hanging on the wall to the right is one I made at a macrame class Dot and I took, and it's hung in the living room every Christmas for probably 35 years. This year I placed it in the dining room. Pardon the out of place chair, but it was in the way of the tree for the picture.

This darling Let It Snow Snowman is my Christmas bonus from Julie this year. I've had my NOEL macrame hanging here, where you come in the front door, for maybe 35 years? What a rut I'm in. And I love this hanging here. It's so cute.

The nutcrackers have had various homes over the past Christmases, but this is the first time they've ever been on the landing. They must be wondering where in the world this flowery wallpaper came from - they've never seen it before.

This vase of berries sat on the mantel the last few years, so this year I put it in the bathroom.

Christmas Mantel

Been awhile since I've posted, so I decided to show you my pretty mantel decorated for Christmas. I've had these Merry Christmas blocks for at least 20 years, and this is the first time I've not put them on the hutch. When deciding not to use greenery and lights on the mantel this year, I thought I'd put the blocks here, also. Then I found these candles Saturday, just what I'd been looking for, to use in place of the lights. My decorating is done except for putting the ornaments on the tree, and that may wait until tomorrow morning.

Another Afternoon With Jill

I picked Jill up at school today, and as usual, she didn't fail to entertain. When it was almost time to take her home, she had an idea. "I have a good idea, something we haven't done for a long time. Let's stop at Walgreens and get a snack after we get Erin." It's something we used to do after getting Erin's allergy shot. I told her we weren't picking Erin up today. "Well, we could stop and get a snack anyway." So of course, we got a snack at Walgreens and took one to Erin, also.

Also in the Walgreen's parking lot we saw a woman driving a car with a poodle on her lap, the dog hanging out the driver's window. Jill, of course, was taken with how cute the dog was. I told her, yes, that sure is a cute dog, but that's not a very safe way to drive a car. Jill told me, "well, I don't think the dog is driving."

Being Entertained by Erin & Jill

The house is quiet. Erin and Jill spent the night last night, and now are home, no doubt getting ready for trick or treating. And once again we had so much fun with them. We put the mattress to the hideabed on the floor and they slept on it - something different. Erin was reading a mummy book, and noticed strange shadows. What fun. Or at least she really seemed to think so. She's an avid reader and told me about the Cam Jansing books she's now interested in. We also played battleship, Erin and me against Bobby and Jill. Erin loves this game, and Jill played for the first time and also played the entire game and liked it. However, this blog is mostly to write about a specific dinner conversation. We were talking about the years we were born, and Bobby asked them if they could imagine that he had once been a little baby. Jill looked kind of dubious, and said...a baby with a mustache?

This, That & Everything

Don't have anything special, but feel like blogging, so here goes. Last night Bobby and I ate supper out, then went to a 2-hour seminar on medicare. Wow!!! Do we know how to live it up or what. But it was informative, expecially since I knew absolutely nothing about the process or about medicare. Now, at least, I retained a little information. Bobby, of course, will be on medicare before me because he's Older than me, and always will be!!!!

Then we went by Brian's softball game. We got there during his second game, got to watch him bat, and then only stayed a very short time. It was so cold and windy. But Julie was there for the duration. What a trooper she was out in that chilly night. Still don't know if he won the second game or not (the one we were watching). If so, he was going to be playing the third game. Hope they won. But I'm sure Julie was frozen. Brian also dropped the necklace by the house that I''d ordered at Julie's jewelry party. I love it. Thank's Brian for bring it by. If I'd known we were going to be at your game, I could have saved you the trip.

We had dinner last week at the Village Anchor with friends...very pricey restaurant. But lots of fun. I've actually been doing a little Christmas shopping here and there. And tomorrow night Erin and Jill are sleeping over - which is always fun. Baking bread again today - isn't that interesting to know? I'm reading The Fall of Giants, which has started out really good and holding my interest, thankfully, since it has almost 1,000 pages. Finished Game Change, which was really interesting. The renovation on the house next door goes on and on. They're spending thousands of dollars on it. And we think the big tree in their yard is scheduled to be cut down soon. Good to know because in a storm we're always afraid of the branches that fall from it.
Ben sent me some newspaper clippings about him and his opponent running for metro council there in Florida. He called and said it was supposed to be a very close race.

Well, I'm off to the grocery. Reading this was a couple of minutes you'll never get back.

Yard Sale Bargain

Saturday morning yard sales are almost coming to an end for the year, boo hoo hoo. But this Saturday morning I found this bargain. It cost me $3.00, and it's a gift wrap holder, and it contained 4 rolls of Christmas wrap, never opened; One roll with a little used off of it. Two packages of gift tags unopened, (contained four each); package of 4 boxes, unopened; large pkg. of tissue paper, unopened; a really neat round gift box; and lots of pretty ribbons, enough that I won't have to buy any this year. What a find! This lady also had a small Christmas Yankee candle that she sold for 5 cents, never burned. I would have paid the $3 just for the container.

Spelling Game With Erin & Jill

Erin has a tooth that is so loose that it's comical. It leans out over her lower lip, just hanging by a thread, but it just won't come out. So in the car today, the conversation had been about teeth when we decided to play a game. One person would spell a word, the others would guess what it spelled. Kim, Judy, Erin, Jill and I were in the car.

Erin spelled t-e-e-t-h. Jill guessed teeth.
I spelled t-o-o-t-h. Erin and Jill both said tooth.
Jill said I have a good one. l-o-o-t-h. Silence in the car. Judy said looth???
Jill laughed and said, yes...looth tooth.

St. Columba Grade School Reunion

On Saturday, St. Columba Elementary had their "All class Reunion." If you didn't attend St. Columba or grow up in the West End, you won't be much interested in this blog. I'm posting it mostly for Julie. In this photo is Tommy McNally, Me, Kathy, Kathy's brother Terry, Kathy's sister Mary Ann,, then Rose Lanning, and Nick Lanning.
On this photo: Back row - George Lanning in sunglasses, Nick Lanning in blue shirt, Bill Higgins, You can just see the top of his head, Mary Ann McDonald in the very back, Mike Hardesty in hat; Rose Lanning in tan dress; Donna Becker, the blond, Marinell Francis- with the dark hair; Mary Lynn Wagner; Judy Graf in the plaid jacket; Kathy McDonald next to Judy Graf: Larry Mettling on the far right end; and Tim McDonald stooping in front.

All except Donna and Judy were our neighbors, but I also went to high school with Judy and Donna.

Julie, George Lanning was hoping you'd be there, thinking maybe you'd pick him some dandelions. He said he must have been that irresistible older man. Julie, I talked to Ann Z. - she's cute and sweet as can be. Your 8th grade class graduation picture was posted in the basement along with pictures that people had brought along and hung up. The McWilliams were all there from 32nd street - wasn't Tim there one who was your age? We had a tour of the school building. Remember the yellow steps? The school is now a home for the elderly. We didn't see an elevator, but there must be one somewhere, because there's no way elderly could climb all these flights of steps. The choir loft is now an apartment area; I wonder where that big pipe organ is. And the Epics didn't play - I guess that didn't work out. It was fun and a lot of people were asking about you.
Julie, I didn't know that the Lannings had 8 kids, did you? I only knew George and Rose. And Mr. Lanning must have been a scream. George told us that for gifts, Mr. Lanning gave Mrs Lanning: one year a pony: one year a St. Bernard: and one year a monkey! And the monkey used to throw its poop at people and so they finally had to get rid of it. Gee...really?
A lot of neighbors were there, I guess because so many neighbors attended St. Columba. When we went to school, I'd leave my house, go to Kathy's, and Linda and Diane would come down the street, and meet at Kathy's also, then the 4 of us would head down to Judy, then across the street to Sharons, then down the street to Maureens, then we'd all walk the three blocks to school together.
And at this time, Ben was in high school, I guess Mark was walking with his friends, and little Julie hadn't even started to school yet. She was home picking flowers for the older boys.
There had been three houses built on part of the playground. Reeds Ice Cream Store next to the school is still standing, but not an ice cream store, and Mannings Grocery Store across the street is still standing, but not Mannings. Mingus Grocery is boarded up, Dearhoerfer Drugs is boarded up, lots of shabby looking places, kind of sad. But it had been a great area to grow up.

Cute Little Halloween Dude

While putting the other Halloween photos back, I remembered we had one of Mark with a mustache, so I browsed the albums until I found it. Admittedly, this was a lot easier to come up with than a fire eating chipmunk or a rainbow costume. Maybe that's what happens when you don't have creative parents, but what a little doll. And Bobby claims that he still has this tie. There's no date on the back of the picture, but I'd judge Mark to be four on here, don't you think?

A Sincere Compliment?

About two months ago, Bobby was going to get a haircut and run some errands. I told him that while he was gone, I also was going to get my hair cut. However, I changed my mind, but he didn't know I had changed my mind. When he got home, this is how the conversation went:

Bobby: Your hair looks nice.
Me. : I didn't get my hair cut.
Bobby: Oh. Well, I tried.

So this morning when he left to play golf I told him that this afternoon I'm getting my hair cut, colored and highlighted. He wanted to know:

Bobby: Should I tell you your hair looks nice? Are you really going this time?

Halloween's Coming

These are pictures of pumpkins Mark painted in 1992. They are soooooooo cool. And they always remind me of the Blue one he painted for me, that I took to work at Hilliard Lyons to sit on my desk. I carried it up in the elevator, and it was the talk of the building. People I'd never met were coming by my desk to see that pumpkin. Just from carryiing it up in the elevator, word spread all over the building. It was the creepiest thing you can imagine. I have another Halloween blog after this one. It was going to be all one blog, but I had trouble getting all the photos on one. Sometimes I have trouble with technology, hard as that is to believe.

Thinking About Halloween

In 1995, when Kevin was driving the pick-up truck, he drove around in October with this skeleton in the passenger seat. Silly! Mark sent us this Halloween card in 1994.

The photo of Brian as a clown was taken in 1989, and Brian and Kevin were getting ready to trick or treat dressed like KISS in 1979. Mark's wearing the mask in 199l, and the other costume in 1992. Strangely enough, I can't find pictures of Mark dressed to trick or treat as a child, but we also don't have but one or two of Brian or Kevin, either. I spaced these photos thinking I'd be able to type between them, but can't figure out how to do it.

Watch Update

I bought a watch on Friday, found my old watch today, on Sunday. End of story.

Tree Comparison

I tried to find photos of the big tree next door, because recently some of us were talking about it. We can't remember it ever being smaller than it is now. These pictures are the best I could come up with. You can tell it's quite a bit smaller, and notice these were taken before Judley put up that awful privacy fence that he did such a lousy job on. The first one is taken in 1975, the second one in 1973. I found the third photo interesting because it's taken when the front porch was still wooden, with the porch still screened in. And look how cute Kevin is. Taken when he played on the 3-4th grade team.

Photo of tree today.

Another photo of tree today.

Movie Night

Monday evening, Bobby and I saw The Jerk at Iroquois Amphitheater, and after about 20 minutes, moved to different seats because we had a few "jerks" sitting in the row right behind us. This woman laughed obnoxiously loud constantly...I mean constantly....I mean constantly. And from the beginning of the movie, she loudly recited Steve Martin's lines before he did. Every one of them. I don't know if she was showing off that she had the movie memorized or what her problem was, but 20 minutes was all I could take. And who in his or her right mind would see this movie enough times to get all the lines memorized? Which brings me to another point. So far this summer, I've seen Stripes - which on a scale of 1 to 10 get a minus 8 or so. It's absolutely one of the dumbest, most boring, asinine movies I've ever sat through. Then we saw Raiders of the Lost Ark; then The Jerk. (these were all freebies) So in my book, After sitting through these 3 movies, I've racked up some points. I figure with those points I can either take Bobby to the movie of my choice sometime, or toss my name in the lottery hoping to get into the public school of my choice. Looks like Bobby's the Winner! Or loser, he's thinking.---------------------
A few other notes:
I've lost my watch, and I don't think I'm going to get used to being without one. Guess I'll have to replace it. Kevin thinks when I replace it, the old one will show up. We'll see.

Had some one on one time with Erin this afternoon which I enjoyed tremendously. I picked her up at school, then we got something to eat. She talked about school, her friends, etc, and it was just very enjoyable. We've been having Jill at our house occasionally after school, and I get a chance to talk to her a little more than I do Erin. So this seemed like a special treat to me.

I've finished cross-stitching a quilt that I think will be pretty on my bed at Christmas, though it's not a Christmas quilt. I'm getting ready to sandwich it together, and then start quilting it. Then I'll start appliqueing my ice cream cone quilt. Guess that's all.

Total Insanity

Reading an article in Newsweek by Davis Guggenheim, I was floored when I read this. He's the director of Waiting For Superman, the film about the American educational system that has just been released. I don't think it's playing in Louisville yet, but hope to see it if and when it plays here. Actually, I think it's an indictment of the education system in this country. Anyway, he tells about hearing of a school in Los Angeles called LACES. He was interested in enrolling his 12 year old son in this school the following year, because it's supposed to be one of the top high schools in the country. Not a magnet school, or charter school, just a mainstream school.

So...he called the school and spoke to admissions. He was told he should have started five years ago! And- he should have applied to other schools that he knew his son was not going to get into. Then, if, and only if, his son didn't get in those schools every year for five years in a row he would have accumulated 20 total points (four per year). After "winning" 20 points you can enter the LACES lottery, where you have a good chance, but not a great chance, of getting into the school. But since he didn't have any points, his son stood zero of getting into the school.

The article went on to say this isn't the school's fault. It's required by law to have a lottery because this gives every kid a chance. What in the world kind of education system do we have, anyway? - Where so few kids can get a decent education in the public schools?

Last Willow Concert of the Year

Uncle George and I danced to New York, New York. He said it's one of his favorites.
I know what you'll be thinking...who elected me clothing expert of the year. But this guy in blue and white got my vote for What Not To Wear. And what's with that hair thing he had going on?

Blog Retraction

Yesterday I blogged about unfriendly people on Bardstown Road and on Eastern Parkway. This morning I took another route, using all side streets - Longest, Cherokee Road, Everett, etc. The majority of people smiled, nodded or said hello. I passed one guy on my way home in the midcity parking lot who had a dog getting into a recycling bin - the guy was busy bending over talking to his dog, so I just walked right on by not saying anything. After I'd passed, the guy yelled, "Good Morning." I guess he thought me to be rather unfriendly. The people on the side streets seem friendlier. Here's Bobby's theory. If you say hello to the people on Bardstown Road, they figure you're going to ask them for a handout, so they just keep they're eyes straight ahead. Point taken. (Did you get your red pen out, Judy? Want to make a correction? Tee hee hee. If you don't get this, you'll have to read my comment.

My Morning Walk

My walk this morning took me on my usual route; up Goddard, left on Baxter to Grinstead, down to Bardstown Road, down Bardstown Road to Eastern Parkway, right on Eastern Parkway, right on Baxter and back down Goddard to home. The only 2things of interest I noticed is that from Midcity Mall to Eastern Parkway on Bardstown Road there appeared to be a dried red stain splattered along the walks. If I didn't know better, I'd think this was evidence of a Zombie attack, but that just couldn't be. The other thing I found somewhat interesting is how many people I can pass on the street who don't acknowledge me at all. At the bus stop on Eastern Pkwy & Bardstown Road there were 3 people waiting for a bus, all 3 sitting in the bus shelter. I looked at all 3 of them, prepared to say good morning. The first man never looked up from his laptop. The second man was jiving back & forth to something - maybe some music going in his ears? he never looked at me. The third was a young lady - maybe 30, who stared glassy eyed towards the street at who knows what - I'm thinking she was a zombie who only made it as far as that bus stop. Some people smile when I pass and say hello, but a good many don't acknowledge a hello at all. How rude. I'm wondering if anyone else encounters the same thing.

My Quilt Shelf

Can you believe this beautiful quilt rack? And believe it or not, Judy made it for me. I simply love it, Judy. Who knows if the same quilts will remain on it for any length of time, or if I'll change them out frequently. Only time will tell. And the perfect spot for two of my favorite pictures of Erin and Jill. What a lovely and cherished gift.

Tattered Clothing

I've known for a long time that I have a tendency to hold on way too long to some articles of clothing. Shoes that I especially like, I've worn until the leather soles actually cracked and my feet got wet on a rainy day - time to toss but not until then. About a month ago I was shopping in a consignment shop, wearing a blouse that I'd worn for years. Many, many, many years. It looked fine to me when I put it on. While shopping the lady working in the store asked me if I knew my blouse was town in the back. No, I said I didn't realize. I searched the racks of blouses for a blouse to buy and couldn't find one I liked. I had, however, found a really cute yellow skirt, but that wasn't helping the blouse situation. I headed for home after purchasing the skirt and was horrified at the state of my blouse in the back. It was in shreds in about four places. Big rips and shreds. And I'd already been to Margarets Consignment. So after that, I tossed a jacket I've worn for about 15 years with the sleeves tattered and torn. (I really liked it) And yesterday I threw out a white tee where the fabric was awfully thin in places. (It was a favorite, also) Some things I pitch at the drop of a hat; others, not so easily) But I'm going to definitely be more careful hereonout.

Lousy Customer Service

Bobby and I were lucky enough to have Erin and Jill spend part of the day with us today, their last day of summer vacation. While Bobby was at a follow-up doctor's appointment, Erin set up a "Pet Store" on the steps and sold the animals one by one to Jill and me. Our instructions were call her on our phone, order an animal, and then she delivered it...until she sold seven or eight animals. After all the animals were sold I made an additional call to her. Here's how it went.
Ring ring..
Erin: Hello.
Me: Hello. I bought a dog from you and it won't stop barking. It barks and barks and barks. Can you tell me what I should do with him?
Erin: Well...this is a paint store now. We sold all our animals.

What kind of Fly-By-Night Operation was this, anyway?

Whoa...What's That in the Washer?

I went to do a load of laundry Sunday morning, and guess what was hopping around in the washer? My least favorite insect of all - a cricket. What to do. What to do. So I decided to drown him a little bit. And when I was done, he was just as dead as if I'd decided to drown him a lot. I guess the next time he'll know better than to get in my washer, won't he.

Night out with Uncle G.

Well, Uncle G. and I attended traffic school last night. And let me tell you, it was much more interesting that I expected. The class lasted from 6:15 untill 10:00, and the time went quickly. I'd say there were 25 of us there; I was the only guest, and guests were expected to participate along with the others.

One of the first things the instructor did was let us know if someone was late, he or she would not be admitted to the class. This was "clearly" stated in the letter each person received prior to the class. He told us, "It never fails. Someone always shows up late." At about 7 or 8 minutes after the class started, two women showed up at the door. Ken, the instructor, told them they were late, could not be admitted, and would have to call the number on their letter to be assigned to another traffic school class. The women argued that they couldn't find the room after they'd gotten into the building. Ken held firm and sent them on their way. Hooray for Ken.

There are 52,000 deaths a year on the highways in the U.S. We all think it's so tragic if a plane goes down and a lot of lives are lost at one time, but this is l50 lives lost every day in the U.S. or three per day in each state in traffic accidents.

You're 3 1/2 more times as likely to die in an accident during the overnight hours than during the day. But many people opt to do long vacation drives during the nighttime hours. It's Not a good decision! And this is taking into account there are less cars on the road.

The cross-over barriers in Kentucky have been struck 5,000 times in 5 years. There have, of course, been some deaths. But these barriers have saved an unbelieveable number of lives.

You can go to U Tube and bring up teen texting while driving (I've not done this yet) and see while you'll never text again while driving. What idiot would text and drive at the same time, anyway? U-tube/cross over barriers also shows how the barriers work.

It was also discussed how driving is only 10% physical, 90% mental, and made for a very interesting discussion.

If your insurance company ever requests your driving record, be sure to request that they be given ONLY YOUR THREE YEAR record, not your five year record. And this request has to be abided by. If they attain your five year record, they attain a record of all the latest traffic violations. If they attain the THREE YEAR RECORD, they do not.

I, like most in the class, thought a driver started out with points, and lost points if he or she had a violation. Wrong. You start with no points. If you have a violation or an accident, then you can rack up your points, such as three for one such violation, etc. Twelve being the highest number you can attain before you're in deep trouble.

There was discussion how a person can be charged with DUI if the substance in his or her body is prescription meds, not only alcohol, etc. So if the meds warn not to drive etc, you do need to be careful if the meds effect you. I think most people know this already, but it's interesting conversation in a classroom setting.

Last, Uncle G. really didn't need me there last night, except for the drive home. He handled himself just fine along with the rest of the class. However, now this is the truth believe it or not. I swear!

There were two women there who spoke no English! They understood nothing being said! They couldn't speak or write English. When the evaluation form was handed out they were skipped over completely. But they were still handed their little completion card like the rest of the class, told to hang on to it though they won't know that) for a year, stating they'd completed their traffic school class. Now, just what was accomplished by their being there. And they can't read highway signs, i.e. yield signs, etc. etc. etc. but they're out there..so watch out!

Movie Night at The Palace

.

Saturday night we saw Rear Window at the Palace, and Hitchcock continues to be one of my favorites. And judging by the response of the crowd, I'm not alone. The crowd applauded various scenes in the movie, which was fun, and interesting, but also kind of weird. And Dub and Linda, Bobby and I had dinner across the street from the theater and could tell they were selling a lot of tickets and gave ourselves plenty of time to find a seat. It's a good thing - they had a sell out crowd. People standing in the back. I suppose these were people who opted to stand together rather than have an individual seat apart. In the day of cell phones, caller i.d. and other new technology, this would be an entirely different movie, indeed. What a fun night.

Tree Climbing Adventure

It was another fun concert night. On the way to the trash can, Jill found a tunnel through a tree, which led to tree climbing. Each adult was called over to see the tunnel and to see how they could climb the tree. It's such a cute mix of tomboy and girlie girl, climbing a tree in their skirts and dresses - so cute. Kim made Erin's skirt and Jill's dress. Erin showed us how it "swirled out" on the dance floor when she spinned.
I think this is a cute picture of Mark and Jill. Mark looks like he has a big earring on - I'm not quite sure what that is. Maybe it IS an earring. Jill sure looks comfortable. Just a few more weeks and Erin and Jill will be back in school, and the concerts won't fit into their time schedule. Sad, sad, sad. But on the other hand, the start of a new school year is always exciting, so happy, happy, happy.

Salsa Night at Willow Park

When the concert had just started last night, I spotted this dude in the crowd. Bobby asked if he could take his picture. Well, when Bobby came back over to where we were sitting, he said guess what he had inside that hat.....
And guess what he had inside that hat??

This is Mark doing some fancy moves with Jill and friend Camille. I think they must have had lessons.

Erin and Bobby danced last night at the concert, not letting the heat bother them a bit. You just can't keep a good man down when there's a pretty girl around.
Once the dance floor got crowded, I never saw the top hat guy again. Salsa night drew the biggest crowd of the year, I believe, and there were lots of new faces in the crowd, lots of new dancers on the floor. And many familiar, also.

Another Fun Willow Park Concert

Well, last night was a good night for a concert; good temps, and the rain managed to stay away. The problem was, the cloudy skys kept friends and family away, too, we think. And then do you know what happened? This charming lady sat next to us. Notice the tray attached to her chair. Plenty of room for her ashtray. Cigarette smoke blowing in our faces. So we moved, of course. Lost our usual up front, first class seats. But it was still a fun evening.
The guy in the red shirt danced most of the evening by himself, and he really got into the music, as you can tell by his expression. He'd move all around the dance floor. Once in awhile he'd hook up with a group, but usually he was alone. And we "dug" the hat worn by the lady across from him. She was so snazzy???

And that's my concert report.
