Salsa Night at Willow Park

When the concert had just started last night, I spotted this dude in the crowd. Bobby asked if he could take his picture. Well, when Bobby came back over to where we were sitting, he said guess what he had inside that hat.....
And guess what he had inside that hat??

This is Mark doing some fancy moves with Jill and friend Camille. I think they must have had lessons.

Erin and Bobby danced last night at the concert, not letting the heat bother them a bit. You just can't keep a good man down when there's a pretty girl around.
Once the dance floor got crowded, I never saw the top hat guy again. Salsa night drew the biggest crowd of the year, I believe, and there were lots of new faces in the crowd, lots of new dancers on the floor. And many familiar, also.

Another Fun Willow Park Concert

Well, last night was a good night for a concert; good temps, and the rain managed to stay away. The problem was, the cloudy skys kept friends and family away, too, we think. And then do you know what happened? This charming lady sat next to us. Notice the tray attached to her chair. Plenty of room for her ashtray. Cigarette smoke blowing in our faces. So we moved, of course. Lost our usual up front, first class seats. But it was still a fun evening.
The guy in the red shirt danced most of the evening by himself, and he really got into the music, as you can tell by his expression. He'd move all around the dance floor. Once in awhile he'd hook up with a group, but usually he was alone. And we "dug" the hat worn by the lady across from him. She was so snazzy???

And that's my concert report.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I think I'm pretty much convinced there's nothing Kim can't do. Let's face it - she's even delivered a baby. Yes, I mean delivered a baby- when the baby didn't want to wait to go to the hospital, doula Kim was right there. And she certainly knows how to step in when someone is having severe anxiety, and get things done. I know Erin's school wasted no time getting her on their school board. From the outside looking in, I've seen her Top notch work ethic. And I know she's the best mom I know, and believe me, I know lots and lots of wonderful moms. She's surrounded by family and friends who love her (including me). And I could go on and on and on. But this started out just to show you a few of the things Kim's made for me, so I'll resist the temptation to talk further about her. This purse below, she just made for me, even though she's only been sewing for a few weeks. It has a snap closure, a pocket inside, pleats all the way around it, and I love, love the fabric. You wouldn't believe all the things she's already made, and I'm sure I don't even know the half of it. Everyone already knows she can knit anything under the sun. She hit the ground running on her sewing machine - I knew she would.

Now this is a tray Kim painted for me. Notice the quilt pattern - I simply love it. I've had it displayed in the bookcase in our living room since she gave it to me, because that's the best place I have to display things. Painting this must have been so time consuming. I mean, she's not really the artist in the family, but you'd never know it from looking at this tray.

This is a pillow Kim cross-stitched for me. So many tiny, tiny stitches. I love to cross stitch, but not tiny stitches like this. (I'd go blind) I love this pillow, and I'm not sure now how long ago she made it for me. But I do know it's been in a chair, alternating back and forth from the living room and dining room for quite some time now.

Birthday flowers

These are the beautiful flowers Kim gave me this year - for Mark's birthday. I'm not only fortunate enough to have Mark for my son, and then Kim in my life, but get flowers to boot. You can't beat that.

Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated Mark's 41st (whew, can you believe it?) and Kevin's 39th birthdays yesterday. And we also got to celebrate Julie's birthday, since her birthday is on the 14th of this month. In the bottom photo, Kevin and Jill are looking through the telescope. Cute picture. And above, we have five blowing out the candles. Kevin didn't actually get a chance to blow out his candle - the other four were too quick for him. You can hardly see Mark, but he's in the picture, also. And of course, Erin and Jill helped blow out the candles just for the fun of it. They blew so hard that the cake cracked in various places. Bobby grilled delicious pork chops, and Erin discovered that she had her first loose tooth. Such a fun get-together.
