Starring Julie

The reason for this blog is that Julie liked going back in time on my sewing blog. So I thought she'd enjoy going back in time with pictures of herself. And I had lots of fun doing this. But I have a great big OOPS! The last picture in here I thought was her pitching cornhole. Bobby came upstairs and said it was a picture of me, and he was right. So I found these pictures of Julie on the same day and put them in at the front of this blog. I remember she had on the cutest white blouse that day. And what in the world is Erin doing?
I forgot to work these pitures in, so I'm putting them in at the top. This is Julie as a bridesmaid in our wedding, all of 13 years old. I remember when I woke her up late at night to tell her I'd gotten my engagement ring. She just nodded and went back to sleep. What did I expect...I was 20---she was 11.

And here she is watering all her plants. She's said to have "an acidental" green thumb. I don't know what kind of green thumb she has, but it certainly is green. You can tell by her flowers. They're gorgeous.

I like this picture of Mark and Julie, taken at 32nd & Main. That house is no longer there, because the expressway went through and took the houses. I can't know for sure, but probably Dot made Julie's little dress. you can see from the photo on the right that Julie's the baby of the family, of course. This is at a family picnic we had every year at a farm in New albany. I'd guess it was taken in 1955. Mark and Julie are making a wish, in a dress that Dot made for Julie. Mark's probably wishing that Julie will probably always be young enough to run errands for him if he times her. Daddy, Julie, Mark and I were at Mammoth Cave in June, 1965. Julie's posing for a picture on Christmas in a two-piece dress that Dot made. And the gang on the picnic table in the backyard on Parker Avenue is Linda, Ben's first wife, Alma - Dot's sister, Dot, me, Julie, and Allison. I guess we had nothing better to do.

This is Julie wearing a long yellow dress, I think in 8th grade. She was chosen to crown the Blessed Mother in the May procession, and Dot made her dress. The blue dress is her 8th grade picture, and Dot made that dress also, with smocking on it. She likes to pose, doesn't she! And of course, Dot had no smocking machine, did it with a regular old sewing machine. Then we have Julie, Mark, Mark and Kevin, taken on Easter Sunday, 1975. Julie and Dorthy are pitching horseshoes in 1973. Then we have the Tabler clan with Julie and Jimmy in 1977. And Julie and Joe, who were Brian's god-parents on Baptism day in June, 1976. I love Joe's hair.

Here's Julie and Jimmy working a puzzle on Chrismas day, 1978. Look at all the trees out our kitchen window, and Dot made those curtains for me. I guess I've always loved orange. This picture of Julie and I was also in 1978. Here's Julie attaching all the scratch off's to the big No. 80 for daddy's 80th birthday. We had 80 or more scratch offs and all the grandchildren scratched them off in no time. They had a great time, but daddy collected them all to make sure they didn't miss anything. Smart man! And here we have Mark, Kevin, Brian, Julie and Susie, but you can't see Susie yet, Christmas Day. And Julie, Brian and I are on a ferris wheel in 198l. I'm assuming Brian's having a good time, because I'll bet I wasn't. I don't know about Julie., but she looks like she's having fun.

This is Julie and Dot at Myrtle Beach in 1984, taken when we women went on a lunch cruise. The guys didn't want to go. Then Dot, me, Julie and Beth walking on the beach, and look at Julie floating on the raft - she's queen of the pool. The cake is Daddy's 70th - but we cut off Daddy's head on the picture. Julie's standing there with Brian and Brent. And Julie's blowing out the candles big time in 1986. And this is Susie's baptism, where Carolyn and Bobby were the god-parents.

I'm not sure of the year that the Garveys are on our deck, but Susie looks about two years old. Look at those cute little faces. The one with Julie in the white blouse is at Dot's and Daddy's in 1987. I love this picture of Julie. That's Brent, David, Kevin and Beth. Then we have Dot Julie and David opening a gift. Then Beth's First Communion in Columbus in 1989 - what a doll. Then Julie, Daddy and Me. And then Julie hugging Bobby good by after our 25th wedding anniversary party in 1992.

These were taken in New York in 2001. Julie and I were on Wall Street, and She and Susie were in front of the Rockefeller Center tree. Then, of Course, Julie and I were being "Sisters, Sisters...." Going to New York with Julie and Susie was an experience I'll remember forever. Julie getting creamed on the subway makes me laugh when I think about it. These horribly misbehaved kids threw this creamy drink on her when we got off the subway, on her coat. After a few seconds of extreme aggravation, she wiped it off and said, " at least I didn't get shot." And what an adorable picture of Julie and Beth.

Here we have Julie playing golf. I couldn't mention Julie without mentioning golf. After all, She's got two hole's in one under her belt. In Ohio she's the Queen of Golf. She has a crown to prove it. In the other photo she's pitching cornhole with Mark on Derby Day, 2008. (Well, we now know that's me) The first pictures are Derby 2005 - her and Jit. Doesn't she look cute in her Derby hat? That may have been the year we all wore our hats for Jennifer. So that's my little walk back in time with Julie. I know lots of sisters think their sister is the best in the world, but mine really is.

Great job, Mary Lynn! I loved looking at this. I wonder if Dot made any of the dresses I wore growing up? Does anyone know?

PS Mom, the hat you have on in one of these pictures is not "the hat" either. We'll have to keep searching for you!!

Love,
Beth
