The Dance Scene

We went to the concert in Willow Park last night, and this guy caught our eye. He had on mickey mouse ears and a Santa shirt, and danced the night away. Can't figure if he lost a bet or if he just doesn't know any better. Probably the latter.

We got sprinkled on once, just a little. Then a little later as we watched the sky, decided we'd better leave. When we were walking to the car it started to thunder and lightning. We hadn't driven two blocks when there was a downpour; our instincts had been right. Anyone who hadn't made it to their cars were bound to have been soaked. But by that time it was after 8:30, so it turned out to be a good concert night overall.

Flower Garden Quilt completed

My flower garden quilt is complete, and considering that I thought it would take me years to finish this quilt, fourteen months was pretty good time. And I did another quilt in this time, also. I'm sort of sad that it's done because it was so much fun to work on. But now it's time to start another project, and that's always fun. This is definitely one of my favorites.
I hand quilted in the ditch around the seams, and around all the flowers, and feel that sets off the flowers and gives the quilt the right amount of quilting. The backing is pieced with all the fabrics used in the various flowers on the quilt - it makes for a colorful backing - quite pretty if I do say so myself.

birthdays past and present

The top pictures are Bobby making my birthday cake when we lived in California. It was my 21st birthday. Oh so many birthdays ago. The bottom one was yesterday. Funny how my 21st birthday cake had more candles than my 64th. He always makes me a cake. He's a sweetie pie.
We were talking about birthday parties we attended when we were kids. I told him about one I went to when I was four or five years old. I don't remember this, but I remember Dot telling the story. It was Wayne's party - my next door neighbor. When I came home, Dot asked if Wayne blew out all the candles on his cake. I told her, "No, I beat him to it."
I bet I was popular at parties.

Mother's Day at the Zoo

This is Mother's Day at the Zoo, and we Really were having a good time, although on this picture, I guess it appears questionable. After we stopped for this snack, Judy, Erin and Jill fed the geese that were hanging around our table. (They're such yucky creatures, if you ask me) After the zoo, we met Brian, Julie, Pam and Angie for ice cream. An extremely pleasant day. Of course, Bobby was taking this picture.

Last night Bobby and I sat for Erin and Jill, and had the pleasure of tucking them in bed. If I had a dollar for every time they called "Mimi" after they were tucked in, I'd probably be able to purchase a fairly nice pair of shoes with the money. If they could come up with an excuse to call me into their rooms, they did. And of course, I loved every minute of - they're quite entertaining.

Derby Week Scenes

Here's Ben picking another loser at the track. He got pretty good at that.

We rode out to see the (now I'm sure to misspell this, so sorry) Budwieser Clydesdales and have ice cream from the Comfy Cow. Those horses are so beautiful, and Erin and Jill loved the dalmation riding in the wagon as much as they loved the horses. It was an enjoyable evening.

This was taken at Slugger Museum, standing beside a huge baseball glove. It does make us appear sort of small, doesn't it.
We kept pretty busy through the week, fit quite a bit in, even though the weather wasn't anything to write home about.
